Irish artist Therese Whelan Tierney, Dublin and Roscommon

Originally from Dublin,now living in Co Roscommon, I've always had a passion for art, particularly painting as it has always sparked my curiosity. After studying graphic art and design, I decided to take up painting full time, as i missed the texture, smell and the flow of paint.Recently I have been working on treated hard wood board, in sizes that suit my work best. I find the hardwood to be a more superior support then canvas because of its longevity.

I had a fascination for derelict buildings,exploring the theme I found imprints and evidence of years gone by.I feel working on the derelict buildings helped my art process and allowed my art process move on, now I'm painting my own journey,the places and people I see along the way.

I try convey a sense of mood in my work, because that is the first feeling I get, a sense of movement is also significant to signify how a moment in time is just that and rarely stays the same.
