Artist Maria Noonan-McDermott, Leitrim and Donegal

Artist Maria Noonan-McDermott is originally from Co. Donegal but now lives and works from her studio in Kinlough, Co. Leitrim. She exhibits throughout her native Ireland and her paintings are held in public and private collections in Ireland, the UK, France, Italy, Canada and America.

'With a love of folklore and story-telling, Noonan McDermott's inspirations lie in rural Ireland, it is in these magical places that share a colloquial history where stories and the people are often intermingled with the landscape' ...

Infinite possibilities emerge as she conjures up imaginary figures that recede into the background, painted seascapes where land meets still water and vanishes in a ball of light. Where numerous unending landscapes converge with their surroundings and wooded terrain with slumbering forests are illuminated by mystical crepuscular rays.
