Maura O'Halloran, Kilkenny and Wicklow artist

I live in West Wicklow and am originally from Kilkenny. Both places inspire my art, especially the landscape and areas that hold memories for me. painting the light is a challenge that draws me as is painting Plein Air. I paint mainly in oils but love to try other media and to draw, especially in charcoal. I have painted for about twenty years and have developed my appreciation and skill from attending art classes, obtaining an arts degree with the Open University and completing the portfolio preparation course at Carlow. I exhibit with the Barrow Valley Group in Carlow and have also exhibited in group shows at the open selection for Eigse, the Butler Gallery, the Pigyard Gallery, VISUAL, Greenacres, the Wexford and Kilkenny Festivals and have solo exhibitions locally. I teach Art to the Baltinglass Active Retired groupand have completed a commission from Baltinglass Fairtrade Association ,funded by Wicklow County Library Services.
